An experienced midfield player who loved to regale his team mates with tales of the time he played at Wembley, Joe signed from Tamworth, and was a mainstay in midfield over his seven seasons with us, ending his time at Leamington on high as he helped us back to Step 2 at the first attempt.  Or so we thought! Joe did not sign for another club, keeping himself fit; and ended up returning to Leamington after coming to watch an FA Trophy tie against King's Lynn Town, making his second debut in our home game against Scunthorpe United.

Clarke has always been something of an unsung hero, his best work often going unnoticed as the link between defence and attack. Joe has also played for Solihull Borough, Evesham United, Redditch United, Solihull Moors Darlington, and Wrexham, where he had a fanzine named after him, and was an FA Trophy winner.
