Goalkeeper Jake Weaver has returned to Leamington FC on a permanent basis following his release from Birmingham City.
The young stopper joined Brakes on the eve of last season having played in our final pre season friendly, and made 42 appearances before the season was cut short, adapting well to life in the National League North. Now, despite having other options as he looks to continue his career, Jake has agreed to become Brakes' number one once more.
Paul Holleran was thrilled to be able to have persuaded the reliable keeper to return permanently, saying 'Jake was fantastic for us last year; I think the more he settled in at Leamington and the more he settled into the environment, the better he got.
He is a really great professional who is very popular around the place. Obviously with his release from Birmingham City he had to weigh up his options, and I think that after a little bit of time he's obviously thought that the best path for him is to continue being involved in a first team environment, and I think he sees the benefit of this. We were delighted to get this deal done as it is a position that I wanted to sort out as quickly as I could because I know how important it is as we've been hurt there before, and it's great that we've got Jake on board for another season. We hope it will benefit both parties.
This signing is sure to delight the Brakes support, who voted Jake their Player of the Season . We welcome Jake back to the club, and wish him continued success with us.
