Ahmed Obeng and Kurtis Revan have become the latest members of last seasons’ promotion and cup winning squad to commit their future to the club as the build up to our National League North return draws ever closer.
The two speed merchants both had a big impact in our successful campaign last time out. Obeng quickly became a fans favourite with his pacy direct attacking, and made 53 appearances, scoring 10 goals after arriving at the Phillips 66 Community Stadium last summer. He quickly opened his account for the club in our first away game of the season at Kettering Town, and won the penalty which allowed Rob Thompson-Brown to open the scoring in the Birmingham Senior Cup Final. He was later awarded man of the match, to cap a satisfying first season with us.
Revan did not link up with Brakes until March having been released from his previous club King’s Lynn, and while he was restricted mainly to appearances from the bench he played a pivotal role in our success, setting up both goals in our dramatic late win over Walsall in the Birmingham Senior Cup semi final, before winning the penalty late in the play off final against Hitchin Town that allowed Brakes to level and subsequently go on to win promotion.
On both players, Paul Holleran said ‘They’re both young boys, both have got pace and can play in a few different positions. We’re delighted that they are back on board, I’m sure both will have a big part to play next season as they look to test themselves in Step 2 football.’
‘Ahmed can stretch teams with his direct pace and with Kurtis, we’ve seen in glimpses what he can be like. We’ve possibly just got to get a little bit more consistency in both their games to get more of a final product out of them but they’ve both got raw talent and I’m sure they will both do well for us next season.’
