Our former striker Jacob Blyth will be plying his trade in the Scottish Premier Division next season after signing for Motherwell.
Jacob was released by Premier League Champions Leicester City at the end of last season after 4 years at the King Power Stadium, where he found the net regularly for the Foxes' Development Squad. While he did not make a first team appearance for Leicester, he gained valuable experience in the Football League in several loan spells, making his professional debut for Burton Albion, whom he later helped to the League 2 title. He made over 50 appearances in spells with the Brewers, Notts County, Northampton Town, Cambridge United, and towards the end of last season, Blackpool.
Motherwell have regularly raided English non league clubs for players who have gone on to do well in Scottish football's top tier, and Jacob now has a fantastic opportunity to start playing regular first team football at a good level. He became a popular figure in his season and a half with Brakes, scoring 24 goals in 64 appearances, and we will continue to watch his progress with great interest. Good luck Jacob!
One of our stars of the latter half of last season, Sam Austin, has also found himself a new club after his release from Burton Albion, signing for National League North side Kidderminster Harriers. We wish him all the best, he will no doubt shine at that level if he performs as we know he can.
