Jacob Blyth became the first Brakes player of the modern era to make the jump to the professional game when he was signed by then Championship side Leicester City in the summer of 2012. He was snapped up by Paul Holleran in January 2011 after impressing at both Nuneaton Griff and Bedworth United.
He was introduced for his debut in a home defeat to Cambridge City towards the end of January 2011, and after several games bedding scored his first goal in a 3-1 home win over Banbury United at the New Windmill Ground. He also scored on his first start in our next home fixture, a 5-0 win over Bedford Town.
The following season Jacob cemented his place in the team, and was top scorer by some distance with 19 goals. This led to him being snapped up by Leicester, where he stayed for 4 years, while spending loan spells at Burton Albion, where he made his professional debut, later helping the Brewers to promotion from League 2 in another loan spell, Notts County, Northampton Town, Cambridge United and Blackpool, before signing for Scottish Premier League side Motherwell in 2016.
