Matty Dodd will surely be remembered as one of the most popular players of Paul Holleran's time at Leamington. Signed late in the 2011/12 campaign he went on to play a big part in the Southern League title win of the following season, scoring 12 goals including a hat trick of penalties in a 4-1 win at Cambridge City, the ground on which he made his debut for Brakes. He also played a major role in our first season back at Step 2, and first in the Conference North, and made a further 30 appearances the following season before leaving for Stourbridge.
Despite switching to a big rival Matty was still held in high regard by Brakes fans, and hilariously invaded the pitch at Redditch along with Richard Batchelor and several Brakes fans after Courtney Baker-Richardson's 94th minute equaliser in the play off semi final in 2016.
Having scored the winning goal for the Glassboys in their FA Trophy win at the Phillips 66 Community Stadium in the December of the 2017/18 season, Paul Holleran brought Matty back to the club in a deal to the end of the season, and he played a pivotal role, scoring the goal that kept us in the division in the penultimate game at York City.
