Many Brakes fans have asked about the absence of Joe Parker for the majority of last season. Having spoken with Joe, manager Paul Holleran is able to give the following update.
‘12 months ago, personally struggling with mental health issues for the second time in his football career, Joe Parker reached out for help at the football club.
‘We were in contact with the PFA straight away, and through their Sporting Chance scheme the PFA were providing counselling sessions for Joe within 48 hours.
‘It has been a really long, hard journey for Joe, with many late night phone calls, but with the support of his family, friends, the PFA and Leamington, we now have Joe Parker back in the group.
‘Joe’s journey is not over yet but he is certainly coming down the mountain, and the football club will continue in it’s support of Joe Parker.
‘I cannot thank Leamington and the players enough for their love and support towards Joe. A changing room full of great people and characters.
‘The football family is a special family. Welcome back Joe.’
