Signed for Rugby United from Bedworth United
in August 2000 and became a regular and popular striker for
the club. Playing history sesaon 2000-1: 39 appearances, 15
goals; 2001-2: 31 (10); 2002-3:35 (21); 2003-4:38 (19); 2004-5:
37 (15). This we understand, makes him an all-time record goalscorer
for Rugby.
Quote from BBC Three Counties in 2004, referring to Robbie's
involvement in a 2-1 defeat of Chesham United: "Up front Robbie
Beard is one of those irritating players who niggle endlessly
at opponents then go down as if poleaxed when touched by an
opponent - Steve Sinclair caught an elbow in the face on the
blind side of the referee in the second half - yet he and Marsden
posed a constant threat that Chesham's forwards were unable
to match".
Moved to Brackley Town in summer 2005, after signing at Solihull
Borough.
Rejoined Rugby United - by now renamed Rugby Town - in December
2005.
