The Old Five internet/email newsletter
Edition 2, 23 December 2007
Welcome to this second edition of the Old Five, the internet newsletter from Leamington Football Club
Fixtures: new dates for your diary
==================================
Just in case you missed the details of three important changes to the fxture list, please be aware that:
Brakes errea Cup Third Round match away to Bromsgrove Rovers will be on Saturday 29 December, 3pm kick off.
The long-awaited FA Trophy 1st Round match at Halifax Town is on Tuesday 8 January, kick off at 7.45pm.
The BGB Football League Midland Division match at promotion-chasing Sutton Coldfield Town is on Monday 25 February, kick off 7.30pm.
Boxing Day match home v Romulus
===============================
Kicking off at 1.30pm, this promises to be another keenly-fought match as Brakes seek to repay Romulus for the recent away defeat. A sizeable crowd is expected so why not take the park-and-ride bus? All details shown on the Leamington FC website. If you plan to drive to the New Windmill Ground, take care to arrive early.
New signings for Brakes
======================= With Leamington pressing hard for a promotion or play-off spot come May, and with a squad depleted by injuries and suspensions, Jason Cadden and his team have made a number of what appear to be excellent acquisitions. Vijay Sidhu, a striker and former member of the Coventry City Youth Academy came to us from Corby Town. Guy Sanders, an experienced defender, former pro with Reading FC and more recently captain of Bedworth United, and Dale Jones, another defender and Coventry City trainee. Good luck to all of them and to the squad for the rest of the season.
North Bank terracing completed
==============================
Despite the efforts of thieves who stole our contractors digger while it was at the New Windmill Ground, the new concrete terracing of the North Bank is completed and will be open for the first time at the Romulus game. This development was made partly in response to FA rulings on ground safety but also in order for us to continue to keep pace with the requirements of ground grading as the club progresses up the league hierarchy. Well done and thanks to all concerned, from those who played a part in raising funds, to the supporters who braved bitter weather conditions to help with final sweep-up.
Leamington FC website news
==============================
I am pleased to report that the site continues to go from strength to strength. In November and December we have welcomed over 1000 visitors per day, of whom about two-thirds are coming back for the second (or umpteenth) visit. If you have not been for a while, do have a rummage around - results, news, goal clips, interviews, Brakes history - its all there. And if you have enoyed this newsletter - why not forward it to a few of your friends?
All that remains is for me to wish all readers of the Old Five a happy and peaceful Christmas. See you at the New Windmill Ground on Boxing Day!
