Further steel has been added to the Brakes midfield with the acquisition of Dan Quigley, Paul Holleran’s fourth new signing of the summer. The 27 year old began his career in the United Counties League with Long Buckby, making over 120 appearances and scoring plenty of goals, culminating in the club winning the title in 20111/12. This earned him a move to King’s Lynn Town, who were beaten into second place by Buckby but were promoted to the Northern Premier League.

He made 137 appearances over the next 3 seasons with the Linnets, again helping himself to his fair share of goals and becoming a firm fans favourite with the Norfolk side, picking up supporters player and player of the season awards as they cruised to the NPL Division 1 South title and then consolidated in the Premier Division.

A move to AFC Rushden and Diamonds followed for the 2015/16 season, the Northamptonshire phoenix club reaching the play off final where they lost out to St Ives Town. Dan then returned to King’s Lynn at the beginning of last season before leaving after long time manager Gary Setchell was sacked in February. He played out the remainder of the season at AFC Rushden, helping the Diamonds into the play offs once more.

‘Dan is somebody we’ve come across a few times in the last 2 years’, said Brakes boss Holleran. ‘He is an all action, competitive midfielder and also very versatile. He maybe could have stepped up to this level of football before now but I think he feels that this is his time. He is similar to Jack Edwards in that he has worked his way up the pyramid and has had a decent career in non league football, but there is more to come from him and I think he sees Leamington as the ideal place to do that.

He is the kind of player you don’t mind paying to watch, and without a shadow of a doubt I think his wholehearted, energetic displays will go down well with Brakes supporters.’

Dan was equally pleased to have signed, saying ‘I'm delighted to have been given a great opportunity to play for such a good club. I’ve heard nothing but positive things about Leamington and the manager is a real top guy. I just want to get started now and hopefully contribute significantly this season. I’m looking forward to meeting the lads and playing in the same team rather than against them!’

We would like to welcome Dan to Leamington Football Club and wish him a successful time here.
