At a full council meeting on Wed 12 April WDC councillors overwhelmingly gave their approval to purchase the land off Europa Way to allow for the development of the community football stadium.

WDC Chief Executive, Chris Elliott, also gave a positive interview on the Phil Upton BBC CWR show today. The interview is available here which also includes the views of Brakes Trust chairman Nick Rogers. (Skip to 1:09:30).

Leamington FC shareholders will be asked during May to also give their approval, following which a detailed study on the delivery options and feasibility for a new sports and community hub for the area  will take place. As well as the stadium this would include a new primary school, community hall and medical centre.

Enabling development is envisaged to help fund the community stadium, which could include a new hotel, pub, convenience store, other local shops and some housing.
