Leamington FC's Community Scheme continues to expand under the guidance and direction of Community Director Paul O'Rafferty with the club currently providing football coaching and multi-sports provision weekly at a number of local primary and secondary schools, colleges, youth and community centres.
Much of that work has been undertaken and managed by club volunteer Dave Trowell who is an FA Qualified Coach who also holds a wide range of educational and sporting qualifications. He together with Paul O'Rafferty and other Brakes coaches deliver a weekly programme extending to 24 events, ranging from coaching 4-7 year olds through to 'walking football' and coaching those with learning difficulties and or disabilities. The programme is provided by a combination of Leamington FC working alone or in partnership and conjunction with a variety of providers that include the Football Association, Birmingham County FA, Warwick District Council, Warwickshire Association Youth Clubs (WAYC) and other bodies.
Leamington FC Director Paul O'Rafferty said, 'Following a review of our structure and provision within the Community Scheme and to reflect the excellent work that Dave Trowell performs within that scheme it was decided that we needed to formalise his position within the club to reflect the wider role and responsibilities he has undertaken. He has been given the title of 'Community Development Officer' in a role that we envisage will only continue to expand in the years ahead.'
