Success: The club has a long and proud
history, going back as far as 1891. In season 2000-01, the
club returned to playing after a gap of twelve years when it
had no ground to play on. Since then, our renaissance, the
club has enjoyed an almost unbroken run of success, achieving
four league promotions, reaching the First Round proper of
the FA Cup (2005-06) and the quarter final of the FA Vase (2006-07).
Last season, the team won the Midland Football Alliance championship
and the MFA League Cup, becoming the first club to achieve
this historic double. Leamington FC now plays in the British
Gas Business Southern League Midland Division.

Buying shares in the club
When the news came that the old Windmill Ground was to be
sold, the idea was floated of supporters coming together to
buy it for the club and so preserve football for the future. At
the time, the football team was run as part of the A.P. Sports
and Social Club, so a new company was formed in 1983, called
Leamington Football Club. Supporters could buy shares
for £1 each and many came forward.
In the event, the value of the ground for housing was beyond
the means of the new company, but it stayed in existence and
took over the running of the club when Automotive Products
ceased their involvement. The new owners of the Windmill
Ground allowed the club to play rent free until April 1988,
a generous gesture that has not always been recognised. Shares
continue to be one of the major sources of finance for the
club and over 400 individual people and companies have
a stake. Over 25,000 shares have been sold in all.
Update 15 April 2008: The Club reports that it intends to do some updating of its constitution at the AGM and, until that is done, our lawyer advises that we should not invite new share applications.

Golden goal
A matchday fund raiser, £1 buys you a "minute" of the match.
If your minute is the time of the first goal scored, you win
£20. Anyone can do it, even our webmaster Chris Baker. He is
seen here (right) receiving his winnings after holding the
90th minute ticket at the Joe McGorian Cup match against Romulus,
4 August 2007. As an experiment, the golden goal was the last
one of normal time. Romulus equalised in added time and the
£20 was on its way!
